“I am enjoying training the Gracie Combatives program at the Certified Training Center in Queens Village, NY. I look forward to my blue belt testing and the Master Cycle training. The school and instructors are second to none and it is worth the trip from Westchester.”

“I’ve been to a BJJ school before and I will recommend anyone to join this school because the motivation, attention and the patience is priceless!”

“The studio is a very friendly place to learn the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. I like the instructors Michele & Rob and everyone works together to help each other out. I enjoy coming to class and most of all the attention and dedication given to me by the instructors.”

“I was attending a kickboxing school by a 5th degree black belt . It was frustrating. I didn’t retain the techniques and it was an unprofessional environment. I got hurt in the chest pretty badly a couple of times and I feel I still didn’t know how to defend myself. I decided I needed a change. I decided to visit several schools, all were sport jiu-jitsu (not learning how to protect yourself from punches). I got hurt at one school by a student that cranked my neck. I looked at the nearest CTC (certified training center ) by the Gracie Academy and I decided to visit. I met the two head instructors, Robert and Michele. I attended a class and found the class to be fantastic. It was organized and the techniques were broken down just like at the Gracie Academy/Gracie University. I got feedback on what I was doing wrong in a very positive way. I was never made to feel like I wasn’t getting it. The vibe at the school is good. We all help each other and we don’t try to hurt each other like some other jiu-jitsu schools. Rob and Michele are professional and still entertaining (funny). Rob and Michele’s school, a CTC, is excellent. It has quality instruction, a good vibe (everybody wants to help each other), and a clean environment. And, I don’t mind the one hour drive when there is traffic.”

Since enrolling my son in your karate school I have found that he is more focused, self-confident and is doing much better in school. He can’t wait to put his Gi on and work on his Kata with Sensei Williams. He enjoys the events that your school’s Program Director Ms. Jimenez has organized throughout the year. I have noticed such a difference in my son within the past few months, that I had to write to you and thank you and your school for being such a wonderful source of both enjoyment and esteem building for my child. I am so glad I found your karate school!! THANK YOU!!!

KIAI ! (Spirit of Breath), Indeed the Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense has sparked a breath of spirit in my young one. Kristen started the marital arts Little Tigers Program some months before kindergarten and the program has helped expose her to a structured setting where she has to focus and be attentive to detail. She even acquired the knowledge of Japanese words in her vocabulary. Her interactions with her peers is one based on respect. The Little Tigers program at Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense is one that instills a sense of empowerment and confidence that transcends in her academic life as well as her social life. This sense of empowerment and confidence is no doubt essential for a young lady growing up in our society today. I remain impressed with Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense’s program and would highly recommend it to anyone with a young child.
Brianna’s attitude has changed for the best. She has learned to listen and be more responsible. Her training at Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense has taught her how to get along with others and how to differentiate strangers from friends. She is also more confident with herself. I highly recommend the studio to others.
Ever since joining Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense, I have become more confident and motivated in order to achieve my goals. I would highly recommend this school as it is a place that will help bring out your full potential.
Since I have joined Shotokan Karate Studio of Self-Defense, I have been completely satisfied. I loved Martial Arts since I was able to take my first step and growing up I always imitated the moves of the characters I saw on TV. I have taken boxing and worked out to stay fit but learning Karate is so much more. Now I workout, stretch, learn to defend myself, have learned more discipline and patience. I have learned to use both of my hands and feet, physical balance and have gained confidence in myself all at the same time while having fun. I have visited other schools to see how they train, however Sensei Williams always brings more to each of his classes. Sensei doesn’t just show us the traditional techniques but also the affective techniques, variations to the techniques, combinations with other techniques and also techniques from other styles of Martial Arts mixed with the Shotokan techniques. This truly makes his classes fun, exciting, and makes his students (mainly me) FEARLESS like Jet Lee :-).

I have been training in Martial Arts for 15 years. I have studied under Sensei Williams, for 15 years along with other Sensei’s but, Sensei Williams teaching stuck with me the most. When I learned that Sensei Williams was opening up a school, I was eager to join. The school is more than I expected. The teaching is always above average. The student contact and activities provide structure for young children and adults. I am proud to say that I am part of this school. Not only is this a great school but it is a Family.
